Welcome to the home of the Shishikai Dojo, which is based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and is an officially registered dojo of Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Watanabe Ha Karate Australia which is administered by the Australian Shorinjiryu Karatedo Association Inc

We offer training for those wanting to learn a traditional martial art or self defence. Our classes also include fitness training, hand and foot techniques and weapons training.

We welcome you if you are starting out from the beginning, wanting to return to the fold, or if you want to change styles. See our Dojo Information page for more details.

Mission Statement

To provide a friendly family orientated atmosphere within the dojo and train people to their level of competency in self defence within a martial arts environment.

Dojo Profile

The Shishikai Dojo is one of five (5) dojo based in Queensland and is proudly partnered by our two (2) New South Wales dojo plus our Victorian and Tasmania Dojo all belonging to the Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Watanabe Ha Karate Australia family. Sensei Tony is the Vice President of the Australian Shorinjiryu Karatedo Assoc Inc, the administrative body for Shorinjiryu Kenyukai Watanabe Ha Karate Australia.

Shishikai, is a member of the Australian Koshiki Association Inc which is an umbrella organisation uniting all different types of martial arts in a controlled contact competition environment. Sensei Tony is a National A Grade Referee within the Australian Koshiki Association, a past National President of the Australian Koshiki Association and past Queensland State Koshiki Secretary.

Shishikai, as part of the Australian Shorinjiryu Karatedo Association Inc is also a member of the Shorinjiryu Shinzen Kyokai being an association of various schools that teaches Shorinjiryu Karate as taught by our founder Shinan Kori Hisataka.
